Jim has been a California licensed Certified Public accountant for over 30 years. With a wide variety of corporate and individual taxation experience. He graduated from California State University Northridge with a degree in Business Administration/Accounting and began his career in public accounting. Very shortly specializing in taxation. Joining the tax departments of large publicly traded corporations. Gaining experience with complex domestic and foreign tax issues. Doing so while maintaining experience and proficiency in individual taxation by returning to public accounting between corporate engagements.

Jerry Barnes began his career in the tax field as a preparer while still a freshman in college and continued in that role throughout his Navy and Army service. After completing his military career, he worked with the USPS as a carrier while also assisting the financial department on a part-time basis. He then transitioned to the FTB as a Tax Specialist before being promoted to Tax Auditor. Following the recall of Governor Gray Davis, he was laid off from FTB and returned to USPS, resuming his role as a manager.
His career took a new direction when the IRS extended an interview opportunity, leading to his hiring as a Bankruptcy Specialist and subsequent promotion to Revenue Officer. It was in this role that he gained firsthand experience in how the IRS collects taxes and the procedures involved in the process. Over the years, he has developed a deep appreciation for tax law and its application to individuals and businesses.
